Well known Irish actor Emmet Bergin, whose Dad was from Carlow, has died.
He’s best remembered for his role as Dick Moran in the Sunday evening soap.
His father Patrick was a former Carlow Sugar employee, local trade union official and a Labour Party politican who failed to get elected to the Dáil in the Carlow Kilkenny constituency in 1948 but was later nominated by the Taoiseach to the Seanad in 1954.
Sons Patrick and Emmet both became actors – the latter died over the weekend and will be remembered at a special service to celebrate his life in Dublin next Tuesday.
