Carlow County Council is failing to meet the minimum legal requirement to employ people with disabilities.

The Disability Federation of Ireland says it’s bitterly disappointed.

Local authorities have a legal requirement to have 3% of their workforce as people with disabilities – Carlow is one of two that fall short with just 2%.

The figures have been compiled by the National Disability Authority in a report on compliance with Part 5 of the Disability Act.
