A driver has been caught travelling at 161 kilometres per hour in a 100k zone in Danesfort, as Gardaí clamp down on dangerous driving across Kilkenny and Carlow this bank holiday weekend.
The Gardai highlighted it as one of the most severe speeding offences in the country over the last three days.
It comes as a major Roads Policing Operation continues until Tuesday morning.
Nationally, ninety-two people have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs since Thursday, while over 2,250 drivers have been caught speeding.
Tragically, one fatal road crash has been recorded over the bank holiday period so far, bringing the total number of fatalities on Irish roads this year to 70.
