Carlow was among four areas from which €2million worth of substances were seized in the past week.
Searches had been carried out on five business premises and two homes across Castlebar, Longford, Drogheda as well as our local county resulting in the seizure of ‘substantial quantities’ of cannabis-infused jellies, cannabis oil-infused vapes and ‘reefer’ cigarettes containing HHC and THC, all of which will undergo analysis.
Two men aged in their thirties were arrested in Mayo and Longford as part of the investigation and are being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Garda stations in the Midlands.
Investigations are ongoing with the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau, Customs Revenue Service and Drug Units across the above areas named.
