As the Kilkenny Lions Club’s 2025 Christmas Appeal gets underway later this week, they’ve only recently allocated the last of their surplus cash from 2024 to more groupings.
Their third presentation night this year took place at Bollard’s Bar in the city with eight organisations gifted.
KCLR News was there to meet some of the recipients and to hear where their respective allocations will go.

Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation
KCAT Arts Centre
Samaritans
South East Radiotherapy Trust
Friends of St Columba’s Hospital
Kilkenny Sub-Aqua Club
The Kilkenny branch of the Alzheimer’s Society also benefitted on the night.
While at the event, Mayor John Coonan announced he would add this year’s Mayoral Christmas Fund proceeds to the kitty (more on that here).
The local Lions launched their 2025 campaign recently and President Maurice Regan in an update said they’re ready to go for 2025 with the first of the on-air auctions kicking off this Thursday on the Farm Show;
