Simpsons Characters Lose Their Voice

The voice behind several iconic characters on The Simpsons could be quitting the show.

Harry Shearer – who voices Mr Burns, Smithers, Ned Flanders and Principal Skinner – says he wants the freedom to do other work.

Bosses say the show will recast the roles if Harry doesn’t return.

Cannes’ Most Expensive Movie Premieres

Cannes gets a taste of a Hollywood blockbuster this evening – with Mad Max getting its world premiere.

The film festival’s hosting the Tom Hardy-fronted reboot ‘out of competition’. Its near-100-million-pound budget makes the action blockbuster the most expensive being shown at the event, which is dominated by smaller-scale arty productions.

The sci-fi movie, starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, is in the running for the festival’s main prize – the Palme d’Or.

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ has been getting five star reviews from critics so far, and is the festival’s most expensive film this year.

Vocal Surgery For Sam Smith

Sam Smith has had surgery on his vocal cords.

The condition – which Adele has also suffered from – has forced the ‘Stay With Me’ singer to cancel his current tour.

Sam tweeted he was feeling ’emotional’ to know people were wishing him well in his recovery.

Kennedy Role For Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman’s signed up to play Jackie Kennedy – the wife of assassinated US President John F. Kennedy.

The actress is teaming up with Darren Aronfsky again – who directed her in the Oscar-winning Black Swan.

The film will concentrate on the first four days after his death in 1963.

Brightman Not Destined For The Stars

Russian officials are looking for a replacement for singer Sarah Brightman, who’s pulled out of a trip to the International Space Station.

The West End star says it’s down to family reasons, though it’s reported she’d not been able to fund the 33-million pound journey.

Her place may simply be filled with cargo.

Johnny Depp Gone To The Dogs?

Australia’s threatening to put down Johnny Depp’s dogs if he doesn’t send them home to America.

It says the actor “snuck them in” on his private jet last month – breaking strict quarantine rules.

Authorities were alerted after dog groomer Lianne Kent posted pictures online posing with Yorkshire Terriers Pistol and Boo.

Paloma Faith For Peter Pan

Paloma Faith will play Tinkerbell in a new TV version of Peter Pan.

The singer will be joined by Stanley Tucci as Captain Hook, and Laura Fraser as Mrs Darling.

The two-hour ITV drama – being filmed in Luxembourg, London and Dorset – will also feature new characters not in the original book.
