Extra care’s needed this morning following a low temperature and ice weather alert.
Met Eireann’s yellow notice ends now but your advised to remain cautious.
Temperatures have hit -6 in parts locally and while most key routes were gritted by the county councils last night, there are still parts of roads that may prove problematic.
You’re also reminded to check in on family, friends & neighbours who might be vulnerable and ensure all animals are okay too.
Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather says; “A very cold morning this morning with temperatures down below -3 degrees in many areas, frost and icy patches and people will want to allow a little bit of extra time this morning to defrost cars, it will be coldest in the counties under a yellow weather warning, but all areas will see a risk of frost this morning with coldest temperatures in the Midlands and the East”.
He adds; “There is a risk of some wet and windy weather over the weekend, still a little bit of uncertainty around the details but a risk of some strong winds for a time on Sunday as our weather takes another change”.
