Fine Gael TD John Paul Phelan defends lack of legislation from some govt ministers

“Legislating involves more than just passing new laws.”

So says local TD John Paul Phelan in response to a newspaper article which has pointed out the ministers who have not put through a single piece of legislation as we mark a year since the current government was formed.

Deputy Phelan says some departments just don’t produce much legislation but he says, in any case there is more to their roles than passing laws.

However he admits being a minority government doesn’t help matters.
