Fine Gael’s John Paul Phelan says now isn’t the time to change leader

John Paul Phelan says it’s not “unpatriotic” for fellow Fine Gael members to criticise Enda Kenny.

The local TD was speaking after the comments were made by Jobs Minister, Mary Mitchell O’Connor.

A number of government ministers have come out to support the Taoiseach after suggestions from a backbencher for him to step aside this week.

Chief Whip Regina Doherty has also called for him to set out his timeline for when he would leave the position.

Speaking to KCLR Live this morning, Deputy John Paul Phelan says while the government isn’t stable, he doesn’t think now’s the best time.
