November sees a focus on Science across the country but locally there’s a concentrated effort in the coming days.

While Kilkenny Science Week starts today (Saturday, 8th Nov) and is coordinated by Calmast STEM Engagement Centre, South East Technological University with schools, industry, Kilkenny County Council and other groups, sponsored by Research Ireland as one of the regional science festivals for Science Week.
Two new, free events have been added to this year’s programme, both taking place in Rothe House; ‘Chemistry in the Movies’ with Dr John O’Donoghue, Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Education Coordinator for Ireland, is in The Tudor Kitchen on Wednesday (12th Nov) from 7.30pm while on Thursday (13th Nov) the same venue showcases ‘Serial Killers: Fascination with True Crime’ for which Psychologists, Dr Lorraine Bowman Grieve and Dr Jennifer O’Mahoney will unravel the mystery behind why we are so drawn to the darkest stories.
