A follow-up inspection at a north Kilkenny Nursing Home late last year found a number of previously identified non-compliance issues had still not been fully addressed.
The Health and Information Quality Authority carried out an unannounced visit of Brookhaven Nursing Home on the 9th of December, six weeks after an earlier inspection raised significant concerns around resident care and management.
The visit by three inspectors was to assess whether or not improvements had been made following earlier inspections. While they acknowledged some progress had been made by the provider, a number of non compliance issues remained.
Concerns were identified in areas including care planning, protection of residents, residents’ rights, the condition of the premises and overall governance and management.
In a statement to KCLR, a spokesperson for the facility in Ballyragget said; “Brookhaven acknowledges the HIQA compliance findings from December 2025 and notes the recognition shown for improvements achieved since the previous inspection. We are happy to report further positive progress since the beginning of 2026 and are now satisfied to being close to achieving full regulatory compliance following more recent HIQA inspections, the detail of which will be fully published in due course.”
