A former local TD and Mayor of Kilkenny is about to become the latest Freeman of the city.
Kieran Crotty was a Fine Gael TD for Carlow Kilkenny for 20 years and served as Mayor of Kilkenny on 6 occasions.

A special meeting of the Kilkenny Municipal District will convene at Kilkenny Castle this Friday to confer the Freedom of the city on Mr Crotty.
Others to receive the honour include Kilkenny hurling boss Brian Cody & former President of Ireland Mary McAleese.
