There are new appeals for information today – to mark the disappearance of 13-year-old Philip Cairns.
It’s 30 years today since the Dublin schoolboy – whose mother is from Kilkenny – vanished on his way to school in Rathfarnham.
Gardai are making a special anniversary appeal for anyone with information to come forward – and local people have organised a rally and petition.
The people-powered group who have come together on Facebook – are planning a peaceful protest, petition and march at 1 o’clock today – from the carpark of the Ballyroan Community Centre….to the lane where Philip’s schoolbag was found… before continuing on to Rathfarnham Garda Station to register their concerns.
Gardai are also marking today’s anniversary – with a new appeal for information.
Garda Superintendent Peter Duff says he believes there are people who were young at the time who may have information in relation to Philip’s school bag… and he wants to reassure anyone who comes forward that they will be treated sensitively and discreetly by investigating Gardaí.”
He wants anyone with information to contact Rathfarnham Garda station on 01 666 6500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
