Future of Limekiln on Carlow Sugar Factory site to be put to the public

Carlow County Council has decided to put the future of the Limekiln on the old Sugar Factory site to public consultation.

The move was made at today’s monthly meeting where they also voted 13 for and 5 against to have it added, at least temporarily, to the proposed list of protected structures.

It was part of the old sugar factory and was built in the 1980s.

Greencore, who own the site were looking to demolish it recently but it was prevented from happening.
