Gardai in Carlow are investigating a series of thefts from cars that occurred in the Green Road area early Saturday morning, March 29.
The incidents reportedly took place shortly before 4 a.m. and involved three vehicles: two in the College Green Estate and one in the New Street Estate, from which personal belongings were stolen.
At least two of the vehicles were left unlocked, leading to the theft of items such as a work jacket containing a wallet and a bank card from another car.
These stolen bank cards have since been used fraudulently at service stations in Kilcullen, Kill, and Tallaght.
CCTV footage has captured two males attempting to access vehicles in one of the estates, as well as testing the doors of nearby houses. Gardai are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with relevant CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell camera footage to come forward by contacting them at 059 9136620.
In a related incident, Gardai are also investigating a burglary that took place in Tuscany Downs, Green Road, around the same time on Saturday. Entry was gained to a shed on the property through a window, and two electric bikes—one black and one grey—along with a grey e-scooter were stolen. Interestingly, the chargers for the e-bikes were left behind.*
As with the thefts from cars, authorities are calling on anyone who may have information or relevant footage to assist in their investigation by reaching out to 059 9136620.
