Gardaí have reiterated their appeal for information on a recent public order incident at a county Laois graveyard.
There were distressing scenes at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery on the Stradbally Road in Portlaoise at lunchtime on Sunday, 31st May.
One man aged in his forties continues to be treated in hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening following what’s been described as a ‘physical altercation’ between a number of individuals during the annual Blessing of the Graves.
Four men, two aged in their twenties with two juveniles, were arrested and charged to appear before a special sitting of Portlaoise District Court the following day.
The investigating team is asking anybody who was in the area between 12noon and 1:30pm on the date above and who might have information and/or footage to contact them via Portlaoise Garda Station (057-8674100), the Garda Confidential Line (1800 666 111) or any Garda Station.
