The impact of road fatalities on families and emergency personnel is huge, thats the view of Divisional Roads Policing Inspector Paul Donohue.
36 vehicles have been seized in Kilkenny and 42 in Carlow for having no insurance cover.
The local Roads Policing Unit is now aided by the new insurance app on their official mobility devices.
They’re warning that attempts to mislead them with fake discs or cancelled policies will not work and are calling on motorists to ensure documentation is in order before taking to the roads.
Inspector Donohue hopes when people stop to think of these losses it might help them slow down and drive safely.
Speaking on The KCLR Daily today, he said they’ve already arrested 23 people for drink driving across the two counties this year and 11 for drug driving.
