Goresbridge has been left divided over safety measures planned for the Barrow Bridge.
The structure’s one that links Kilkenny to Carlow and concerns have long been expressed by those using it.
There had been hopes of a separate pedestrian bridge to run parallel to it however the cost and build time put it out of contention.
Instead, it’s planned to add a raised footpath with railings on the existing bridge with traffic lights that would allow single flow of vehicles – submissions on this must with logged with the council by midnight tomorrow.
KCLR News has been in the village hearing what people think – it’s clear it’s a divisive issue but all agree that something needs to be done, and soon.
