Carlow County Council put a woman and her son up in a hotel last night but say that’s not an option again for tonight.
Housing director Séamus O’Connor says its not something they can provide indefinitely with more than 300 people urgently looking for accommodation.
Gardaí were called to the council offices in the town on Wednesday and again yesterday after the woman, who had declared herself homeless, refused to leave without knowing if she and her son would have a bed for the night.
Séamus told KCLR News today they did accommodate them last night but says they cant possibly do it again tonight.
He says it’s not sustainable for the council to put people up in hotels and admitted it has caused problems in the past.
