There are hopes in Callan that an ongoing issue with the town’s river will finally be dealt with.
Silting or sediment accumulation between two bridges has limited the flow of the Abhainn Rí and attempts to rectify this have proven unfruitful.
Funding was secured by the county council to deal with it last year, but a change in legislation prevented the suggested works.
