Management at St Luke’s say they are sorry for the delays experienced there in recent days following another huge surge in numbers presenting at the Emergency Department.
Yesterday 30 patients were waiting on trolleys at the local hospital. Out of an average 135 people presenting to St Luke’s ED every day, 32 are admitted.
This week has been another particularly busy one however as on Monday 139 cases were seen and 56 of those then required admission to the hospital.
Management have told KCLR that every effort is being made to accommodate patients as quickly as possible.
However they’re also apologising to patients and their families for the inconvenience caused when there’s a delay in being transferred from the Emergency Department to a hospital bed.
As always if you’re requiring treatment you’re being asked to visit your GP first unless you need urgent care.
