The number of people on the housing list in Kilkenny last month was the lowest it had been for the previous 6 Decembers.
That’s according to figures from Kilkenny County Council’s housing section.
In December of 2016 there were 2,059 people on the housing list in Kilkenny.
That’s down from more than 2,700 the year before, and more than a thousand fewer than the 2012 high of 3,688 people.
The majority of people on the list – 39% – are looking for a one-bed house, with two-bed accommodation the next most sought-after at 34%.
By the end of last year there had been 16 new homeless presentations to the council, there had been 711 HAP tenancies, and there had been 33 Local Authority, RAS or Leasing Allocation offers made.
Meanwhile, 5 anti-social behaviour cases in Local Authority housing had been taken by Kilkenny County Council.
