Hundreds of locals make their way to Stradbally as Electric Picnic 2017 gets underway

Hundreds of happy campers from Carlow and Kilkenny will be making their way to Stradbally today as Electric Picnic 2017 gets underway.

The younger line-up includes the likes of London Grammar, Mura Masa, and The XX.

While music of decades gone by will also be well-represented with bands like Madness, Duran Duran and The Pretenders all taking to the stage between now and Sunday.

5,000 campers got access to the camp site yesterday evening – the first time they’ve been allowed in, in advance of the festival.

All other campsites opened from 9 this morning.
