Hurling Hero Richie Power will be the Grand Marshall for this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade in Kilkenny city.
The Carrickshock star has been selected to lead the proceedings on March 17th.
Theme of the event is Kilkenny Cats: Tales and Legends.
Speaking to KCLR, the hurling icon said; “It’s a great honour, it’s not something I was expecting but I’m delighted to be part of it and I suppose look it’s a day for the kids really and that’s the most important thing”.
He added; “You’re just hoping to get the weather as well on the day, that’ll it’ll bring out maybe an extra bit of a crowd as well so yeah, look really looking forward to it, I suppose a little bit nervous about it but it’s something I’ll always remember as well so really looking forward to it”.
Meanwhile, the parade is just the tip of festivities locally with the festival to run from 15th to the 18th of March with a range of events including American bands and performances, street food, traditional Irish music and more.
