Carlow manager Pat Bennett says his side will need to raise their performance levels ahead of this weekend’s Joe McDonagh Cup clash with Westmeath.
Carlow opened their campaign with a 4–17 to 1–17 win over Laois last weekend, while Westmeath were also impressive, beating London 1–22 to 0–15.
The sides meet in Mullingar on Saturday, and Bennett admits the challenge will be a significant step up.
“Up in Mullingar is hard. And to be honest, we have to be better than what we were on Saturday night and go beat Westmeath. If we don’t bring it, Westmeath will beat us — and that’s life.”
Throw-in is at 4pm on Saturday, with live coverage on KCLR, in association with June Doran Properties.
