An Independent Wexford TD looks set to be nominated as the new Ceann Comhairle of the Dáil.

Verona Murphy is expected to be put forward when the house resumes next week.

It’s despite outgoing Ceann Comhairle, Sean O Fearghail, wanting the job again.

It’s believed she is a viable candidate as part of a potential Government between Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Independents.
