An initiative designed to stamp out unacceptable behaviour on campus is being launched by University College Cork (UCC) today.
The Online Bystander Intervention Programme has been piloted for the last two years among a sample of students, but it’s now being rolled out to all.
It’s about developing an understanding of issues of consent, assault and abuse.
Kilkenny student, Alan Hayes, is the President of the Student’s Union in UCC & he’s told KCLR News that he thinks it’s a hugely positive move to give young people the confidence to stand up for what’s right.
He added that it’s important friends learn to call each other out.
