Speaking to KCLR Sport after the match, Kilkenny’s Laura Murphy expressed relief and satisfaction after securing their first win of the season.
“It’s great to get our first win, it’s been a tough couple of weeks against Cork, Galway and Tipperary. We came out here today and our only goal was to get a win, get three points on the board and kickstart our year”.
With Aoife Prendergast unavailable due to injury, the O’Loughlin Gaels player took on the responsibility of taking Kilkenny’s free’s.
“It’s a bonus to be on free’s and another bonus when they are going over. I practiced a few on Friday so thankfully they went well. Hopefully, Aoife will be back on the free’s in no time”.
Kilkenny will face Dublin in the final game of the league, a match Laura Murphy is hoping will bring more success for her side as they aim to finish strong.
“Hopefully we can keep the momentum going now. That will give us a bit of confidence going up to Dublin next week. It’ll be another savage battle, Dublin are such a physical team we know that from last year”.
Kilkenny will travel to Parnell Park to take on Dublin on March 29th in the final round of the Very National League, with throw-in scheduled for 2pm.
