Carlow captain Mikey Bambrick says all focus has now shifted firmly to the championship as his side prepare for their Leinster opener this weekend.
Joe Murphy’s men take on Wicklow this Sunday at 2.30pm in Netwatch Cullen Park in the first round of the Leinster Senior Football Championship.
The game will be live on KCLR, with coverage brought to you thanks to Dan Morrissey & Co.
Speaking on the KCLR Sport Podcast, Bambrick expects a strong response from Wicklow, having narrowly beaten them in the league.
“Wicklow — we just about pipped them in the league, so they’ll be coming all guns blazing. No matter what went on in the past, you have to be ready for that game.”
Despite Carlow’s recent success — securing promotion and lifting the Division 4 title at Croke Park — Bambrick says the championship remains the priority.
“It is the most important thing. I know we were talking about getting to Division 3 and out of Division 4, but everyone wants to be playing in the summer, everyone wants to be playing championship — so that’s the target now.”
It’s a big day for Carlow football overall, with the ladies side also in action as they face Leitrim in the Division 4 league final in Birr. Updates from that game will be available across KCLR.
