Jobs boost for Carlow as former hotel to be turned into nursing home

Over 100 new jobs are being created in Carlow with the announcement of a new nursing home.

Killerig nursing home, located in Grange, is to be developed as a centre of excellence for older people’s services.

They’re transforming the four-star 42-bedroom Killerig Hotel into a home that will at first accommodate 45 residents and provide work for 110 people between construction work and health care positions.

The hotel, which was first opened in 2007, closed in December 2012 with the loss of over 50 jobs.

It was bought at an Allsops auction recently for a reported €650,000.
