Local TD John McGuinness is rowing in behind calls for Máire Whelan to stand aside to allow the process of her new appointment to be reviewed.
It follows the controversy where the former attorney general was appointed by the cabinet last week to fill a vacancy on the Court of Appeal.
That appointment is set to be finalised by the President at a ceremony this morning at Áras an Uachtaráin.
However, Carlow/Kilkenny TD John McGuinness says the process was not followed and must be revisited.
