John McGuinness says consumers have been ‘thrown to the wolves’ when it comes to Insurance

The Insurance sector in Ireland is dysfunctional and consumers have been ‘thrown to the wolves’ by the State.

That’s according to Carlow/Kilkenny TD John McGuinness – Chair of an Oireachtas committee set up to look at the rising cost of motor insurance.

A draft report to be published next week makes a number of recommendations including new laws to force companies reveal details of their claims and tougher penalties for drivers caught speeding.

The Fianna Fáil Deputy says there is no quick solution to resolving the problem of rising premiums.
