Kathleen Funchion tells Dáil that Carlow needs its own women’s refuge

Kathleen Funchion has asked for a stand alone women’s refuge to be established in Carlow.
Speaking in the Dáil Deputy Funchion raised concerns over how the Amber refuge in Kilkenny is working to capacity and having to turn away hundreds of referrals a year.
The refuge caters for victims of domestic violence and can facilitate seven women and 23 children at any one time.
Deputy Funchion told the Dáil its a vital service and both counties should have such a facility.
