Kilkenny Animated comes to close with sold-out ‘The Breadwinner’ screening this evening

A colourful weekend in Kilkenny comes to a close this evening as the Kilkenny Animated festival finishes later.
It was launched by the Minister for Arts on Friday and has seen dozens of workshops, performances, talks and displays take place.
The closing event this evening is the sold-out premiere of Cartoon Saloon’s ‘The Breadwinner’.
Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce, meanwhile, says a weekend of events like this is fantastic from a local economy point of view.
CEO, John Hurley told KCLR News festivals in the city centre are always particularly good for independent city traders:
“We all love to think that we always will have a good, vibrant shopping experience along our High Street, Kieran’s Street and all the other streets in the city centre. We currently do, and they will continue to be good but only as long as they are supported.
“So something like this which brings new people from outside into the city – some of whom will be shoppers – is great to see happen and we’ll try and make the most of it while they’re here.”
