Kilkenny claim 5 All Ireland handball titles over weekend

Kilkenny bring home another Five Handball Titles

Mary Phelan and Ciara Mahon Clogh Handball Club travelled to Kilbeggan to play Clodagh and Ciara McManamon Mayo in the Ladies Intermediate Doubles All Ireland Final in which they came out victorious to bring the title back to Kilkenny and now the girls move to Senior status.

 

In the Junior Doubles All Ireland Final Ciarán Neary Talbots Inch and Brendan Burke Kells played Dale Cusack and Tadhg Carroll Cork in an evenly contested final with the Kilkenny duo bringing back gold to Kilkenny.

 

In the Intermediate Doubles The Funchion Brothers Patrick and Peter from Kells played Ollie and Pat Conway from Galway where the Kilkenny brothers won in two straight games and a great week for Peter after winning the Intermediate Singles Final the previous week.

 

Masters A Doubles final saw Michael Ducksy Walsh Talbots Inch and DJ Carey Goresbridge claim another All Ireland title when they defeated Fergal Coughlan Snr and John Cawley Clare and adding to the singles title Ducksy won the previous week

 

In the O35B Doubles All Ireland final Stephen Barcoe Goresbridge and Canice Quigle St. Canices defeated JP O Connor and Mick O Toole Limerick in two straight game.

In U14Singles Ciarán Cooney Clogh travelled to Clarecastle to play Tiarnan Agnew Clare in the All Ireland Final, on the day Ciarán was unfortunate to come up against a very strong player and was defeated in two straight game, but a great achievement to reach the All Ireland Final.

 

Leinster Juvenile Teams

In the U12/13 team of 6 Kilkenny played Wexford in the Leinster Final and what turned out to be a great battle unfortunately the Kilkenny team lost out by 10 aces. . On the team were Jack Holden, Peter McDonald Kilfane, Jack Doyle Windgap, Dylan Crehan Kells, Kyle Dunne, Billy O Neill, Jack Buggy and Jamie Maher Clogh

 

The U14/15 team of 6 also played Wexford in the Leinster Final and again some great handball played and great excitement at the end when winning by 3 aces. This team now meets Tyrone in the All Ireland semi final. On the team were Shane Cullen, Cillian Lafford, Rory Lodge and Conor Hoban Kells, Aidan Barry Clogh and Jack Hayes Windgap

 

The U16/17 team of 4 were unfortunately defeated by Wexford in the Leinster Final. On the team were Jack Crehan Kells, James Culleton, Robert White Windgap and Conor Fahey Mothel
