Stephanie Doheny is bring forward a motion to Kilkenny county council to ensure that any tender process the council engages in is compliant with international law.
Speaking to KCLR News about her motion, Cllr Stephanie Doheny has said that:
“The reason for my motion is based on the horrific situation in Palestine and wanting to try do something constructive regarding that.
We have all seen the images of the situation in Palestine, it is actually hard to find words to talk about this situation especially when we see children been burned alive in tents”
We have to see international law been upheld and we all have a responsibility to call out the genocide that we are witnessing in Palestine.
This motion is so that we can do something constructive, how often we have come across people asking what can we do to help or even how often have we felt like this ourselves.”
She further stated that she is hopeful of the support of the full council adding that:
“As all parties have committed to passing the occupied territories bill, I am sure it will be fully supported and I thank my colleagues in advance for their support”
