One of Kilkenny’s finest sporting institutions is expanding its facilities.
Kilkenny College has gotten permission from Kilkenny County Countil to develop a new all-weather artificial rugby pitch and training area.
The proposal includes 18-metre floodlights, a covered spectator stand for around 210 people, fencing, ballstop netting, drainage works and new pedestrian access routes.
The development would be located within the existing sports campus on the site of the current hardstanding running track, which is also used for rugby training and other sporting activities.
Director of Rugby Gordon Rowe says he hopes the project will be completed by end of next year, he spoke to KCLR News’ Martin Quilty:
