Kilkenny County Council says it’s trying a broader approach to tackling dog fouling, with no fines issued so far this year.
Environmental Awareness Officer Bernadette Moloney says there’s been a rise of 700 in the number of dog licences bought compared with this time last year.
The council is also hoping to get funding for 17 new bins with dog waste bag dispensers.
Ms Moloney told KCLR News with more people able to wrote fines people who flout the rules will be caught.
