Kilkenny councillor calls on Transport Infrastructure Ireland to fast-track completion of Ring Road

Commuters from North Kilkenny to the city face significant delays each morning because the Ring Road hasn’t been completed.

That’s according to Mary Hilda Cavanagh who tabled a motion at the monthly meeting of the local authority calling on the Executive to ask Transport Infastructure Ireland to fast-forward the extension of the section between the Castlecomer Road and the Freshford Road.

The Fine Gael councillor told KCLR News why she’s making her plea:

“I’m inundated with complaints about the long queues every morning from people I represent going to work. People from Galmoy, Crosspatrick, Johnstown, Urlingford Gathabawn, Freshford, Rathdowney who travel in that road every morning and are caught in queues for anything up to 40 minutes some mornings, but generally 20 minutes to half an hour from Aut Even Hospital to the city centre.”
