Kilkenny Councillor John Coonan’s been selected as Chair of the South East Committee of the HSE Regional Health Forum South.
The group met for the first time in the county yesterday (Tuesday, 8th Oct).
It comprises elected representatives from five counties – Cllr Coonan’s joined by Tomás Breathnach, Pat Dunphy and Ger Frisby, Carlow’s local authority represented by Fergal Browne, Daniel Pender and Adrienne Wallace while there are six others from Waterford City and County Council, four each from Wexford and Tipperary county councils.
Cllr Fergal Browne’s told KCLR News that an overview of the healthcare structure in the region was outlined with an update on the Injury Clinic for Carlow.
He notes; “That will be a big help to the people in Carlow and will work alongside the CareDoc and St Luke’s Hospital as well, so that will be something we’re keenly looking forward to, the next meeting we have the estates in and certainly we’ll be bringing up again about Kelvin Grove in Carlow town and the lack of progress in that case in terms of the Holy Angels day care centre and other facilities on that key site”.
Also present for the meeting were the recently appointed HSE Dublin South East Integrated Healthcare Area managers Roseanne Killeen (for Carlow-Kilkenny/Tipperary South) and Dr. Sinead Reynolds (for Waterford/Wexford).
