Kilkenny Councillor says communities need to come together to tackle road & animal safety

It’s not a cultural issue, but a road safety and animal welfare issue.

So says Kilkenny Councillor Andrew McGuinness in response to calls from the travelling community nationally to have any plans to ban sulky racing scrapped.

An event was held in Tipperary at the weekend attended by Love/Hate actor John Connors who said the pastime is good for Traveller mental health.

Speaking to KCLR today Councillor McGuinness says there are major issues around the safety of horses and other road users that need to be dealt with first.
