Kilkenny’s Cartoon Saloon still waiting for Oscar glory

The wait for an Academy Award goes on for Kilkenny’s Cartoon Saloon.

The local animation studio was represented in Hollywood for last nights Oscars ceremony with ‘Late Afternoon’ on the shortlist for Best Short Animation

They lost out on the night though to Disney Pixar’s offering ‘Bao’.

It was the local company’s fourth time to be represented at the awards.

Meanwhile, ‘Green Book’ was the surprise winner of Best Picture at the event.

Olivia Colman won her first Academy Award – she was named Best Actress for her role in Irish co-produced film ‘The Favourite’.

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ got the most wins during the ceremony in LA.
