Kris Kristofferson fans locally have been remembering his gigs in Carlow and Kilkenny.
The country music star’s family say he died peacefully at his home in Hawaii on Saturday at the age of 88.
No cause of death’s been given but the singer had been suffering from memory loss since he was in his 70s.
Best known for writing songs such as ‘Me and Bobby McGee’ and ‘Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down’, he also acted including in the 1976 version of ‘A Star is Born’.
Kristofferson previously played both counties including at the third level college in Carlow in the late 1990s and also at The Hub at Cillin Hill in Kilkenny in 2010.
The KCLR Daily’s been hearing from the latter’s former Events Manager Maeve Butler and Irish singer Louise Morrissey who’d opened for him in Newfoundland;
