There was late heartbreak for Carlow in the Tailteann Cup yesterday after a dramatic finish against Antrim at Netwatch Cullen Park.
The game looked destined for penalties before Antrim substitute Benen Kelly struck with the final play of the contest in the 92nd minute.
Carlow had missed a late chance at one end before Antrim broke quickly from the kick-out, with Kelly forcing the ball to the net to seal a remarkable 6-17 to 2-26 victory.
Afterwards, Carlow manager Joe Murphy admitted the manner of the defeat was difficult to take.
“It’s hard to describe any emotions now at the moment.
“You just feel like you’re after being punched in the gut really and taken a few on the way down.
“Disappointed with our defending, conceding six goals, but we also butchered a lot of chances as well, especially in that first half when we were really struggling.
“So it’s some game! Value for money we’re giving at the moment anyway.”
