A little boy from Kilkenny has been made an honourary member of An Garda Síochána.
9-year-old Seán Rooney from Ballyhale suffers from Nephrotic Syndrome which is a disease affecting the kidneys.
He’s always wanted to be a Garda, and on Friday at his aunt Lisa’s passing out ceremony in the Garda Training College in Templemore, Seán got to be just that.
He’s told KCLR News today it was a really exciting day for him and his family:
“I got to meet the commissioner and he gave me a present. I got my own Garda badge and they got me a uniform.
“I was very excited. It was the first time that I ever cried with happiness.”
Seán also go to take a ride in a Garda car with the sirens on.
It was all thanks to ‘Little Blue Heroes’ which is a Garda non-for profit organisation that helps families in Ireland who have children with serious illness.
