Gardaí in Carlow and Kilkenny promoting the forces National Action Plan ‘streetwise’ for the month of March.
It’s made up of three different phases, and aims to make people aware of their personal safety.
The National Action Plan by An Garda Síochána was launched on the 1st of March and runs until the 31st.
Phase one is ‘personal safety advice’ – it advises people to plan their night out, know how they’re getting home, avoid walking in dark places and never attempt to reason with drunk or aggressive people.
Phase two is ‘protect your personal property’ – this can be done by knowing where your belongings are at all times, having a security code on your phone and keeping valuables out of public view.
The final phase of the action plan is phase three, the anti-assault campaign. It will focus on assault prevention and in particular perceptions of assaults. This phase will use the tagline ‘use your brain, not your fist’
