Local parks are to beneift from funding of over €170,000 under new Participation Nation Outdoor and Amuigh Faoin Spéir Fund.
30 projects nationally have been awarded over €2.7 million to facilitate the purchase and installation of permanent sports infrastructure on public land for community use and improving biodiversity.
€60,000 will be given towards the installation of Outdoor Exercise Zones and planters at Kilkenny Countryside Park and a boules court, boules set and planters for Slieverue Linear Park.
While Ducketts Grove in Carlow will get €120,000 for a ‘Box Up’ facility, mapped trails, physical activity routines and mindfulness resources and to construct a new pond and bog garden.
Carlow County Council Chairman Fergal Browne and Kilkenny County Council Chairman Michael McCarthy have welcomed the funding.
