Local TD says spiraling costs of insurance premiums is a threat to our economy

The Oireachtas is to publish its plan to lower car insurance costs today.

The report on the rising cost of motor insurance  sets out 76 recommendations to tackle the problem.

The Finance Committee has been reviewing the industry – amid rising premiums – and has decided that transparency is the key.

It also wants to make the sector more competitive.

Chair of the Oireachtas Finance Committee – Carlow/ Kilkenny TD John McGuinness – says the government needs to commit to getting a grip on the situation as the spiraling costs of insurance premiums are a threat to our economy.
