Plans are progressing for a major refurbishment and extension of Bagenalstown Fire Station.A full design has now been completed for the long-awaited project, which has been a priority since 2015.
The redevelopment will provide firefighters with a modern, fit-for-purpose facility while also improving the building’s environmental performance.
The upgrade is expected to cut the station’s annual carbon emissions from around 11 tonnes to net zero, significantly reducing its environmental impact.
Speaking to KCLR News, Chief Fire Officer Ben Woodhouse said that the firefighters had a big say in the design.
“Full design has been completed. I’d like to thank the firefighters of Bagenalstown as well because we made sure we consulted with those and let them have input into the design, it’s their building that they’re going to be using and then we’re just about now to start the part eight process.” said Ben.
