A man due before court over stabbing of Carlow student

The 18 year old man is due before a special sitting of Waterford District Court charged with assault causing harm.

An 18 year old from Carlow was stabbed a number of times in the stomach after a row broke out with two men as he queued outside a nightclub on John Street in Waterford City.

A second 19 year old man who was also arrested in County Kilkenny yesterday morning has been released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the DPP.
